You can see very well in natural darkness. Assuming you have at least a faint source of light (such as moonlight obscured by a Marienburg fog, the glowing eyes of a wight, or a bioluminescent fungus) you can see clearly for 20 yards and can extend the effective illumination distance of any light sources by a further 20 yards.
